ABOUT US

Stirling Sports opened their first Store on Dominion Road in Auckland in 1964. The first Stirling Sports franchises were awarded in 1983 after Stirling Sports had invested almost 20 years in developing the best sports retail stores in New Zealand.

The Stirling Sports group are pioneers of business format franchising in New Zealand, under the direction of the group founder and former Managing Director, Colin Taylor.

In 1993, after 10 years of franchising, many of the first franchisees were still in the team and some had been awarded their second Franchise terms.

Today the name Stirling Sports has very high customer recall, great reputation, and loyal customers, and remains the largest nationwide chain with high profile stores servicing the community in all major cities and towns.

With the new ownership 2006, saw the roll-out of a new store forma tin the Sylvia Park Store in Auckland, which signified a new direction for the Group with its High Street and mall based stores.

In September 2006, a new super store of some 600 m² was opened which also established a new format, seen in our St Lukes, Manukau, Albany, and ShoreCity stores. This is considered to be a huge opportunity to continue to provide the best range of sporting apparel, footwear and hardware as well as best service and great deals to the people of New Zealand.

Presently, the Stirling Sports Group consists of 41 stores, with a target for the group is to be at 50 plus stores by 2011. All new and existing stores will be refitted to the new format.

Stirling Sports originally went online in February 2008 to provide the latest ranges of sporting goods, all from the convenience of your own homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

With e-commerce now being a household pastime, the original website required an upgrade to meet the demands of a new generation of consumer.  Hence today we are proud to offer a site stocked with our full great range of footwear, clothing and sporting goods.

The website is owned and operated by Russell Fowler and Sue Dawson who hold the Stirling Sports Dunedin Franchise.
