Behind every runner, there is drive, purpose, and motivation. Every runner has a reason to lace up their shoes and hit the ground running, every time. This week, we chatted with Tyler, one of our On Running’s ambassadors who participated in the Stirling Sports x On Running Auckland night run event and talked about all things running. Keep reading to learn what inspires Tyler to keep ON running and why he loves his pair of On Running CLOUDMONSTER shoes so much!
- What gets you up in the morning?
Purpose OR discipline. It's either one or the other. Some mornings I wake up with a passion to go out and live my WHY - to empower others in discovering passion and purpose in their life and secondary to that, to help others realise they are capable of MORE. Most of the things I do in my day relates to the above, but on days where I'm not feeling purposeful or motivated it is DISCIPLINE which gets me out of bed. - What does running mean to you?
Running to me means many things, but if I had to put them into two categories it is OTHERS and MYSELF. Originally running was something I set out to do to get fit again and live a better life, it ended up being a place for me to challenge myself and use it as a tool to prove to myself I am always capable of more. This is thanks to the global running movement - M3GARUN. I run personally for self-growth and to use aspects of running to put into my everyday life. Being involved with M3GARUN also given me an opportunity to be able to share my journey and inspire others to get involved in running and also find belief within themselves that they are capable of more.
Running to me is more than just 'recreation', it is a metaphor to the type of life I want to lead. - Where is your favourite place to go for a run?
This is an easy one. The trails around Lake Taupo. There is something about being out in nature and having an ability to run through it that makes me feel ALIVE. The trails around there are also a special place as they are where I ran my first half and full marathon.? - What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who wanted to start running?
Find your WHY for running and evolve it as you continue on your journey. Set out with the infinite mindset of - what am I really capable of and enjoy the journey, the ups and downs you encounter along the way and the people you meet. They will be friends for life. Also, it is your OWN journey, do it for you, not anyone else! - What do you like the most about your pair of On Running Shoes, the CLOUDMONSTER?
I love the fact that when I put them ON, I feel empowered in knowing that I am standing for something I truly believe in, which is more than just running. I am telling the world that I believe that we should be able to run in gear that has been made with the runner in the forefront of the company's mind. We should be able to go out and explore the world with freedom, comfort and at ease knowing we are wearing the best gear we can access to ensure we have the most enjoyable experience out on our adventures. - Describe the CLOUDMONSTER in 3 words.
Floating on CLOUDS. - Review of the CLOUDMONSTER:
The CLOUDMONSTER took me by surprise. I've felt so at ease on my runs with it and it's almost, at times, felt effortless.
